Check List for Piling

A matter of utmost importance in our working process is the comprehensive contrul exercised with regard to quality.

RK Engineering employs skilled and experienced staff to ensure that the day-to-day working procedures one carried out within the specified standards.

a). Check position of peg with reference to drawing.
b). Check whether piles are pitched accurately as per drawing.
c). Check vertically of piles before driving in.
d). Check for welded joints with reference to drawings.
e). Check for final set as per requirement.

  • Pile Testing Using Maintained Loads
The test will be carried out by means of jack which obtains reaction from Kent ledge which is heavier than the required test load placed on concrete of gravity is placed within axis of the piles and load applied by jack co-axial with the pile.
  • Method of Measurement
Two calibrated dial gauges will be set up to measure the settlement of pile. The dial gauges will be place on a beam which is supported on shake and unaffected by ground movement due to the test.
  • Procedure of Testing (2 Cycles)
    • 1st Cycle
The load shalled be applied in Increment of 25% if the working loads. At each, loading stage, six readings will be taken at an interval of 5 minutes for a period of half an hour. At working load, the load is maintained for a period of 12 hours and reading of settlement will be taken at an interval of one hour per reading. The load shall then be decreased at four equal stages. Each stage will take 15 minutes and readings will be taken at an interval of 5 minutes.
    • 2nd Cycle
The load shall further be applied at a rate of 25% of the working load until 2 times the working load (the ultimate load). At each loading stage, six reading will be taken at an interval of 5 minutes for a period of half an hour. Upon reaching the ultimate load, the load is maintained for a period of 24 hours and reading the ultimate load, the load is maintained for a period of 24 hours and reading taken at an interval of one hour per reading. The load is unloaded to neutral at for equal stages. Each reading will be taken at an interval of 5 minutes.
  • Interpretation of Test Result
The engineer interpretation and conclusions arrived at on the test results shall be final. When the pile test has been carried out as prescribed hereunder, the so tested shall be deemed to have failed if:-
    • Loading to design load, the settlement shall exceed 12.3mm
    • Loading to twice the design load, the settlement shall not exceed 25mm

The residual settlement after removal of the load shall not exceed 6mm.
